Cooking with Essential Oils

Essential Oils are extracts from plants that have been used throughout history for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. However not all oils are created equal and unfortunately 75% of the essential oils used today are synthetic. The dōTERRA  essential oils that I use are CPTG, Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. They are the purest, safest essential oils available in the world today. dōTERRA , which is Latin for ‘Gifts of the Earth’, use co-impact sourcing so the plants are grown in their indigenous habitats and harvested at the precise time to maximise the potency and chemical composition of the essential oils. Each batch undergoes third party testing to ensure they are pure and free of contaminants, pesticides & fillers. This gives me the confidence that dōTERRA  essential oils are exceptionally high quality and provide the best essential oil benefits. This is also why they are suitable to add to food. Not all essential oils are food grade. Only use CPTG oils in food and always add just before serving as they are heat sensitive.

I have been experimenting with using essential oils in my cooking and they have added another dimension. The smell of the food has been enhanced, the taste has ranged from a delicate flavour, Ginger, to an intense flavour, Lemongrass. These oils are extremely potent so it is important to start with a small amount by just dipping a toothpick into the cap and tasting the food. It is always easier to add more. I have used essential oils to flavour my water, dips, smoothies, bliss balls, olive oil, salad dressings & kombucha. The possibilities are endless. They are a way to add pizzazz, interest and healing to your food.

I am just starting my adventure with Essential Oils but there are so many ways of incorporating them in food. The dōTERRA blog is a great starting point for recipes.
